SCREW those hypocrite bastards! I take care of the planet, I don't pollute, Hell I've planted more trees than the average tree hugger (I'm a landscaper...I made money off doing that)

What makes these self righteous limousine libs think they can tell me I need to change my f'ng light bulbs.

F'ng Al Gore spends more on electricity in a month than I do in a year!!! F Global Warming, F Al Gore, and F Earthday!

we started recycling very adamantly. Our trash was reduced to just about 1/15th of what it was.

Then the Aluminum recycling plant decided that you need to have a state permit to bring them aluminum.

so we just leave it at their door when the plant is closed.

I hate waste - in any form. Whether it be garbage, energy, or water, etc. Heck even including being inefficient in one's work. Just because we can afford something that doesn't mean it is OK to waste it. I often think for many people it is just being lazy, both physically and mentally. Take a couple more steps, think about the "downstream" consequences of what you are about to do before you do it.

That being said, I do intensely dislike the smuggness of some environmentalist, and the way they look down on others. I look at it like true charity. Ones does it just because, not because one is looking for some specific benefit from it. And definitely not so one can feel smug about it.

My neighbor down the street has had a Hummer for a couple of years. Now, I *hate* Hummers for all kinds of reasons - needlessly wasteful (this is a small woman who drives it around a small town - she does NOT need a Hummer), they're just a show-off, they're apparently built like crap....

So, I noticed the other day that they has gotten another car (still have the Hummer)......

WTF? Owning a Prius and a Hummer? Can someone explain THAT logic to me? Is she just trying to "average out" her petroleum use, somehow?

That is friggin funny a damn Prius lol. Hummers are ugly, poorly made, they get 9 miles to the gallon and they are all driven by tiny women who cant see out of the damn things let a lone get into a parking space, They are a waste.

I'm not going to debate the merits of Earth Day, global warming theory, or anything else here. However, SWMBO is watching one of those network morning shows right now, and they're showcasing a bunch of "green" products that are just preposterous!!! Regardless of your stance on Earth Day, these people are fvcking morons. Here's a list of the things they just showed:

Sheets and pillows made of "totally renewable" bamboo: HELLO?!?!?! Ever heard of cotton?! We can grow that HERE instead of importing it via pollution-laden shipping lanes.

Paving stones with solar lights for landscaping your yard: Who NEEDS these? You mined rocks from the earth to make a complete luxury item, put PLASTIC lights into the rocks, then marketed them as "green" because they use solar power? YGBSM!

A bowl made of strips of scrap mild steel cuttings from a steel toed boot factory: This bowl won't hold crap. It's a neo-modern sculpture that looks vaguely like a wicker basket that's falling apart. It's going to rust. It serves NO PURPOSE other than, again, a luxury item. If you "recycle" scrap metal into something that's completely useless, it's no more "green" than if you threw the stuff away. At least that scrap metal would've had a chance at becoming something useful if it had been taken to a proper scrapyard.

Cardboard clothes hangers: Perhaps the most "green" item showcased. Made of recycled cardboard instead of non-renewable steel. However, they are admittedly single use items that are intended to be thrown away. So, instead of getting metal/plastic hangers that you can use over and over again, you're supposed to buy cardboard ones that have a very limited useful life and then contribute them to supposedly already overflowing landfills? Nice.
