I ferment in a 6 gallon glass carboy, which i'm sure is fairly standard, so maybe someone can help me out. I only own an infrared surface thermometer, and currently take my temperature readings by measuring the surface temperature of the outside of the center of the carboy. I'm sure there is a level of error in this, but I am curious if anyone is aware of how significant it might be.
