extend thermometer?

I am going to brew a series of 5 gallon batches(normal is 10) but I realized that my mashtuns thermometer is mounted up too high to touch 5 gallons worth of water. Any ideas on extending the probe?

Not that I can think of. That's why I put my probe thermo bulkheads way down on the kegs, under the first bump.

If you can get you hands on some copper wire, loop it around the thermometer, and hang it from the side of the kettle.

Based on personal experience, moving the thermometer is the only workable approach. I'd just use a handheld one for the small batches.
