Collar fell off in my hand after detaching from keg. spring, collar, ball bearings.

Is this common?

Rare, but not unheard of?

Or am I special? :fro:

Yep: rare but not unheard of. It's just plastic and sometimes plastic fails.

Spares of all components are always a good thing to have.

I guess you have to hacksaw or dremel that clamp off?

I need longer gas lines anyhow (than the 5 foot standard that came with the kit), so no big loss. I will call up keg connection tomorrow and get her going.

If the spring, collar and ball bearings all fell out in your hands...there's nothing holding it on still?

The shaft is still intact and clamped on to the gas line. The spring and bearings live inside the collar, which slides up and down the shaft. The orelicker clamp (SP?) is attaching the shaft to the gas line at the barb, which is part of the shaft.
