GO SPURS GO!!!! :D

Looks like you got the better of it, hope to see you in the finals!!! TONY PARKER, NOT OVER YET!!!

Life long Cetls fan....

Had a rough time from 1990 - 2007....

But it's good that they're back!

I played ball with Pierce at a basketball camp in high school which makes being a fan even better!

Looked like a great game tonight - though it wasn't available in AZ...

Hard to believe  this is the best hbt could muster for a b'ball thread...

Kudos to the Boston Celtics for making it to the NBA finals - the hard way with two Game 7s. Aside from the bicoastal time shifts the Finals should be entertaining.

Lol! I feel I'm posting for posterity in this historically feeble thread (home brewers don't dig b-ball? Who knew?) but with the Boston Celtics taking a 3-0 series lead over the Indiana Pacers after a stunning come-back win tonight in beautiful downtown Indianapolis I had to take note

No matter what happens next at least Boston didn't go 2-0 then lose the series. They'll have gone 3-0 this time!
Wait - that didn't come out right

"ABC’s exclusive broadcast of the Boston Celtics victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, June 9, was the most-watched NBA Finals Game 2 in five years, according to Fast Nationals from Nielsen. Game 2 averaged 12,063,000 viewers and peaked with 14,106,000 viewers at 10 p.m. ET to make it the best since 2019."

Nice to have so many folks watching 😁
We're on to Dallas!

Speaking of NBA history...the Celtics barely managed to avoid being tagged with the all time worst loss in an NBA finals by a mere 3 points with a 39 point loss to the Mavericks in Dallas. Fortunately the record set in the 1998 NBA Finals with the Chicago Bulls defeating the Utah Jazz 96-54 in Game 3 still stands. Woof!

Celtics will be hoisting their 18th Championship banner next home game as they dominated the Mavericks for 60 minutes on the way to winning 106-88 for a 4-1 "gentleman's sweep" of the series. And a fun time was had by the home team fans.

It's gonna be a wild few days here as this sinks in and they roll the duck boats

Cheers!

So the 2024 season opener featured (of course) the 2023 champions (the Boston Celtics) and they totally went off on the hapless Knickerbockers, with the final score 132-109. Boston had a 20 point lead in the first half and never looked back.

But the real fun was the Celtics tied the NBA record for made 3 pointers early in the 4th period - but then shot brick after brick all the way to the end and did not break the friggin' record, much to the dismay of the crowd who were clearly keen on getting it done...
