I've come to the decision that ESB is the ultimate go-to beer to drink while eating grilled food. I made pulled pork, had an ESB with it and it was great. Had one with burgers... Fantastic. Brats... awesome.

Other beers are good and I'm not ALWAYS going to have ESB when I've cooked dinner over fire, but I've learned that when it doubt, it's the way to go.

This is not an opinion. This is a fact. The world needed to know.

That is all.

We talking about English Pale Ale or that PNW, citrus flavored hop water they claim to be an "ESB?" ;)

If we are talking about the real stuff - yes sir, I agree!

The way you describe ESB pairing with grilled food is how I feel about brown ale.
I don't do ESB OR that citrus flavoured PNW hop-water. Regards, GF.

I find that a nice Blonde goes with most dishes.

I think most styles that leave the focus on the malt, complement best.

That depends on where the blonde is sitting :)

Slightly more seriously, I think you're right about the malt. The only exceptions I can think of are spicy foods (Thai, Indian, some barbecue, some southwestern/Mexican) which seem to need more hops.
