Rangers wouldnt have gone to a shutout if it wasnt for a miracle bounce off the dump in that allowed the devils to tie it up. But they do suck at the shootout.

And their pp is terrible. As well as they're doin, if they could get the pp goin they'd be nasty.

The special teams always seems to be the kicker, and for some reason seems to be the momentum giver/taker of a season.

And the Rangers win, in a shootout. Didn't see the game, but not their best play I would imagine. Miller must have had a hell of a night........

Both goalies looked good and made some ridiculous saves. Shootout went extra rounds. I got a shutout from Miller in fantasy...but was hoping for the win for that and the standings. Rangers are just rollin right now. Hopefully they do what the Flyers did last year...dominate for a long stretch of the season and then limp into the playoffs before losing, barely making the second round before getting swept.

And the Leafs bounce back and take a good 1-0 game from the red-hot Pens. All is well in the Centre of the Universe. HUGE game on Saturday though. Will the Leafs finally beat Ottawa this year? Have the Sens and their unlikely hero Anderson fallen back to earth? I believe the Leafs will need to score 4 goals to win. Alfie's always good for a couple points against Toronto.

Washington falls from 3rd to 9th last night. What a joke that division is.

Bloody Habs can't even keep a 3-1 lead and beat NJ properly. Thanks for nothing. And Boston? WTF.... Man I hate scoreboard-watching this early, but the Leafs are gonna need all the help they can get to make the postseason.

Hopefully the Islanders pull out a big W tonight! Unlikely, but some Moulson/Tavares magic could do the trick!

Anyone a fan for Columbus? Or fan of a team competing against the Kings in the standings?

Lombo's explanation - although, if you're reading this thread, you already knew this:

"Those clocks are sophisticated instruments that calculate time by measuring electrical charges called coulombs — given the rapidity and volume of electrons that move through the measuring device the calibrator must adjust at certain points which was the delay you see. The delay is just recalibrating for the clock moving too quickly during the 10—10ths of a second before the delay. This insures that the actual playing time during a period is exactly 20 minutes.
"That is not an opinion -— that is science -— amazing device quite frankly."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

The Celtics used to have a self-calibrating clock at the Gardens too... You could always count on it adding or subtracting seconds at any given convenient time.

Well, it makes sense. WHat we see is just the display. The actual clock is inside somewhere, I assume it's a small man going "one one-thousand, two one-thousand..."

It's a job taht takes the utmost concentration.

What happens if the horn sounds 1/2 second before time is up? What happens when Seguin doesn't set his alarm clock properly? HOCKEY IS DOOMED!!!

I can't see the point of getting our panties in a bunch over the LA Kings getting 2 points out of a game against Columbus.

?? Try again.

LOS ANGELES W25 L16 OT10 PTS60
COLUMBUS W13 L32 OT6 PTS32

LA should get 2 points out of this game every day. If the same thing happened between the Rangers/Flyers/Bruins and the Canes/Isles/Habs, I still wouldn't care.

If you only consider those two teams, it doesn't matter.

However, I'm sure there are other teams in the conference that would really not want LA to have those two points, especially under suspicious circumstances.

It's only 1 point though - game would have gone to OT, and LA would have probably won that, too.

I don't think a single team cares. You can't waste time and energy on strange things you can't control. You want to finish ahead of the Kings? Win more games. Simple.

I agree that nobody cares much if it was some strange thing that is out of your control, but if it's some strange thing that can be pinned on a person working the clock, then I think that more than a few people would be mildly interested.

After watching the video I have a feeling that the automatic calibration theory is either very wrong, or the process is way out of whack. The adjustment necessary should not be visible by the human brain.

I personally don't care. If my team were affected by it then you're dam right I'd be upset!

I'd rather see them use the $10 stopwatch I use for brewing and have the periods be FRACTIONS of a second longer or shorter. Wait until this happens in the playoffs...

Scared about the game tonight. Toronto is coming off a huge win against the Pens, Sens have been sucking ass for a while now.

I hope the boys pull out of this losing funk.

Although if we try really really really hard, and lose every single game, we might finish low enough for a top 5 pick, and this draft is going to be epic. We won't be able to fail for Nail (damn you Columbus) but there's a lot of talent to be had in this year's draft.

If Ottawa wins tonight I predict a cup. If they lose I predict 2nd last overall finish. However, that can all change based on the game after this one.

Go Sens!!!!

EDI: completely off topic, but go Patriots!

Pittsburgh picks up another win, this time against the Bruins. Malkin scores again.

Good game overall, very physical yet no fighting and very little petty sh-t. It would be interesting to see these two in the eastern conference finals.

2nd period over, Sens are getting their asses handed to them.

Don't kill yourself out of despair just yet though... the Leafs blow leads like this all the time.

Looks like not only Ottawa had a tough game yesterday. Flyers with a big loss to the devils. Nice KO punch by kovalchuck!!

Anyway, heading to MSG in a few to watch the rangers flyers. Then off to my buddies superbowl party.

LET'S Go GIANTS baby!!!! Time to embarrass Tom Brady and the Pats one more time!!!!!

Was at a wedding last night, but I'm watching the replay of the game now.

The Senators are terrible. The Leaf fans that showed up in Kanata are amazing. It's like a home game. Did I mention how terrible the Sens are? Can't even slip one past a mediocre goalie.

That is all.
