Electric Frying Pan

I have an old electric frying pan that the Teflon is coming off of. I was wondering if I could pull the heating element off it and create a HLT. Is there any way to bend it w/out destroying it? I'd say it is a loop about 15" long and 6" wide.

Maybe you could cut the sides of the pan?
