I'm currently thinking of purchasing the Cajun injector as an electric brew kettle. The roughly 7.5 gal size plus drain and temp controlled element seem like a really big plus to me for starting to make the move off the stove top.

Does anyone have any experience using this as a brew kettle? I know it will take a while to get a decent boil going but being in an apartment with hardwired appliances I don't have the ability to run a 240 line or use a preexisting one. Luckily my fiancée said I can build an actual brewroom whenever we get a house as long as I build her a dark room so I'm not looking for something to last forever just more something that will make brewing a little easier for the next year or two. Thanks in advance

I bought this fryer to use as an electric brew kettle and it works great. It boiled 6 1/2 gallons of water without any problem. I did put foil/foam insulation around the outer housing to it help retain heat and kept the lid on until it started to boil. The only problem with it is the thermostat is about 25 degrees high and you can hardly see the temperature readout while it's in use. But neither problem is that big of a deal just set the temp high and if it's boiling it's at 212 degrees. If you are brewing on an electric glasstop range like I was it's worth the investment! My range would never get 4 gallons boiling let alone 6 1/2. I removed the little swing out drain spigot (which has metric threads ugh) and attached a 5/8" ID hose and clamp directly to the valve and it worked great. So as a turkey fryer I will never know how good it is but as a wort boiler IT ROCKS!!!

Yea I saw that review. Just wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences with it as I hate to base everything off of just one review

Search electric turkey fryer. Those units are only 1600 watts and will be slow to boil if at all. The temp control is not that precise. I think you would be better served w/ a 10 gal kettle and a 2000w element installed and running 100%.
