Just brewed the Heavenly Scourge Black IPA from the recipe section (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/heavenly-scourge-black-iipa-141308/) or more accurately: tried to brew it!
I'm a one gallon brewer on my 8th batch. My equipment is very basic so this was the first time my small colander and I had to handle 1,5kg of grain and the sparge was difficult, hence the low efficiency (56%); and I guess therefore also the OG of 1.060 was way below the 1.080 that it should be.
I did get the desired amount of wort (i.e. one gallon) into the fermentor.
So my question is now if this could still turn out to be a good beer that resembles a black IPA (even the one I intended to brew!) and will just be much lower in ABV than the Heavenly scourge I tried to make? Or will it be weird because of an imbalance like for example too much hops for too little gravity/alcohol?
Thanks for any words of wisdom!
