I have a dudadiesel 30 plate chiller and love it!! I just use gravity feed and cool off a 5 gallon batch in one pass through the chiller using very little water. Then I just backflush with the hose, boil it for 30 minutes in water to remove any gunk and soak in starsan for 1 hour. I've used it for 3 batches so far and have had no problems. I do use a hop sock though there is very little chance of hops getting into it.

I hate to revive a long dead thread, but I have questions about the DudaDiesel chiller.

The wort chart at http://www.dudadiesel.com/files/beerwortchart.pdf has some impossible looking numbers. For example, the very bottom line on the last page says 19 gal of 68^F water will cool 10 gal of 212^F wort to 75^F, using an oversize 90 plate chiller. Seems to me there's something not right with this chart. (No, my name is not Sherlock. It takes a glaring disparity to grab my attention.)

Would love to hear if anyone has measured the cooling water volume needed to cool a batch.

Thanks.
Mike.
