Just thought somebody might find this useful.
For this brew I am mashing a minimal amount of grains just so that you get the idea....
direct fired mash....
once mashed place large stainless strainer over pot 2, pour grains and original water through strainer into pot 2. In pot 3 (or several little pots) begin heating more water.
Re circulate back and forth between pots 1 and 2 until most of the sediment is trapped in the grain bed.
My beers turn out good and clear and I do this for every brew.
Make sure to rinse the last bit of sediment out of pots 1 and 2 before sparging back into that pot.
