Yeah, but sometimes they're worth it!

Especially when you consider what a bargain it is for your money. I mean, consider how much Mistress Donita the Dominatrix would charge you to inflict a similar amount of pain. :D

it's not far from my brother (and the rest of my immediate family.)

I'm driving up there for a wedding in June, and planning to start AG in August. I might have to snag this and have him pick it up an hold it for me..... crap.... decisions decisions.

Chillicothe is like 25 minutes away from me and I will have a porch all to myself next year...

Are you saying I should get this stuff and then move onto your porch while I'm there?

I'd say pull the trigger. The starting bid is $115--you'd pay more than that for one keggle + ball valve. You could always probably sell one of the keggles to someone here if you wanted to recoup some of the expense.

Well, someone needs to pull the trigger on this one. That is a once in a lifetime buy. You will never be able to purchase all that for that price again. And If you don't you'll be kicking yourself later.

actually.. it's not as close as I thought. I had my geography wrong.

It's relatively close to some of my old homebrew buddies in OH. They don't brew that often these days, and I'm sure that they are not planning to go AG. The hard part would be convincing them to drive 2 hours (round trip) to pick it up for me. They are not as passionate about HBing as I am. :)

I sent the guy a message to see if would accept payment for the gear NOW, but hang onto it until June. I'll be in OH for a wedding in June and could swing by to pick it up at that time.

Am I going to be in competition with anyone here?

If so, maybe we could work out some kind of deal and split the gear? I only planned on getting ONE keg for my AG set-up, and I already have a chiller. If some one wants to split the load, I would want one keg and ball and the mash tun, and could easily part with the other keg and ball and the chiller.

If someone (especially someone in OH who could pick it up immediately) is interested in this, let me know.

For that matter, if anyone near Chillcothe is just willing to pick it up for me, I could pay you a fee or give you a chiller or something if you could hang onto it for me until June.

damn! the guy doesn't want to hold onto it until June. He wants to sell it now and get rid of it ASAP.

grrrrrrr......

For some extra cash will the seller consider UPSing it to you? I know he says pick up only, but money has a way of changing minds.

south of columbus.

here's a map showing relative position from columbus, cincinnati, and dayton (chillicothe is the red star)

Nope. he doesn't want to bother with packing it up and shipping it out.

No help here--if it'd been closer to Cinci or to Toledo I might have been able to enlist an intermediary.

I've sent a message to SkewedAle (since he is only 25 minutes from there) and gmeyers said he might hep me out, but he's a LOOOONG haul from Chillicothe.

I had talked to my brother about it, but it's too far for him to drive to get it.

My friends in Cincinnati are too busy (lawyers and teachers) to go and pick it up, too.

I've got quite a posse in Cincinnati, too.

Oh well.. If I can't work something out with somebody by the end of the day tomorrow, I'll have to let it slip away.

wtf?

earlier today, that auction said it had 1 day and 2 hours left.

Now... the auction has ended with no bids on the gear.

???????????

can you just take down an auction item any time you want? that seems wrong to me. granted, I had not bid on it, but if I had???? I would be pretty fired up right now and might just drive up to Chillicothe anyway.

I wonder if he was allowed to take it down because NOBODY had bid on it yet?

How can I end my listing immediately?

If needed, you can end your listing before the scheduled end date. If there are bids on your item, you can cancel them.

Reasons for ending listings early include:

The item is no longer available for sale.
There was an error in the starting price or reserve amount.
There was an error in the listing.
The item was lost or broken.

There ya go...

Right. But probably the most common reason is that the item is sold outside of ebay bidding procedures, which is considered an "ethics violation" on ebay. (I had a seller offer to do this for me just a couple days ago.)

Dear Walker,

Please accept our deepest sympathies :( at the recent loss of your dream equipment. Know you are in our thoughts during this difficult time. It is our hope that time will heal your sense of lose and the joy you have known will return to your heart. Until then perhaps you will find comfort in the thought that your beloved dream equipment has gone on to a better place, :ban: and while we do not know where that place may be, nor what it is like there, we can hold on to the hope that your beloved is being cared for.

In honor of your loss we lift a brew to you. :mug: May your cup runneth over.:rockin:
