I am running 2 5500 watt 240v elements. Due to space limitations I'm trying to find a way I can switch between these 2 elements without using any contact relays or more than 1 SSR.

My plan is to wire in a Hot A and ground to each element. The Hot B will run through my SSR and then go to a switch to select which element the Hot B will go to. The switch will only control the Hot B line so I'm thinking I can use an easier to find 120v switch.

Just curious if this would work as I have not seen any diagrams showing this configuration.

Thanks

You'll have around 24 Amps running through that switch, so as long as you can find a 24 Amp - 220 V switch, go for it.

It's 220 V since when it is switched off, the 2 sides of the switch will be from Hot A - Hot B, which is 220 V.

Even though I'm only switching the Hot B line it still makes it a 240v switch? I'm trying to avoid the 240v switch as they are hard to find.

Thank you

Yes it still needs a 240V switch. When the switch is in the open position one side will be directly connected to hot leg B while the other side will be connected to hot leg A through the element. Because no current is flowing through the element both sides of the element's terminals will be at the same voltage of hot leg A. therefore the voltage across the switch terminals will be hot leg A minus hot leg B = 240V.
