I was in Cal-I- Forn-I-A, baby. We drank wine from one end of Sonoma County to the other. Managed to get a few brews in there along the way, too.

Russian River Brewing... Yummmmmm - bo!

I would sacrafice my son, Cape Brewing, to the beer Gods if I could duplicate their barrel aged "Consecration". It's sour, tart, brisk and is stored for a while in used Cabernet Sauvignon barrels so it picks up a distinct flaovor of wine. I'd have to say that is one of my favorite beers of all time. I have a standing order placed with anyone from around here who heads out to RRB to bring me back a few. I'll pay all expenses plus an honorarium.

Pliny the Elder. I've decided how best to describe it. Find the hoppyest double IPA you can. Then go out to your garden and cut down your ripe hop vine. Gather the vines together and twist into a pope then soak the hop rope in the beer for several days. then take out the rope, drink the beer and have someone lash you in the face with the hops as you gulp. THAT is Pliny the Elder!

Lost Coast Brewery... Uh, ok. Comics say never go on stage after someone funnier than you and I got to Eureka the day after my last pint at RRB. Too bad for LCB, they actually do make good very good beer but they were definitely rebound beers.

The brewery in Hopland was nice, I enjoyed what we had there but by that point Alice was making noise about her needing to drive if I didn't lighten up so I did.

I've liked the beers from Lost Coast. Interesting labels too.
I wonder how many batches they get out of the Cab barrels before it loses it's flavor? I just may be able to get an old Cab barrel to try it out. That's a lot of beer though. hmmmm interesting.
