I was poking hops through a funnel with a chopstick - secondary carboy full of delicious wheat beer. I stupidly dropped the chopstick in and it slid right down to the bottom I presume. I had previously sanitized the funnel and the bottom half of the chopstick but not the top. At first I didn't worry and thought the acidic beer will kill anything but a day has passed and I'm still wondering...

- will a wooden, stained (has some type of light stain/colouring) chopstick, partially unsanitized either contribute off flavours or infect the beer, or both?

What do you think the chances are?

I have another glass carboy sitting here. I could rack it into a new one leaving the little bugger at the bottom. What do you think? It would be 24 hours sitting in there. Otherwise, I plan to leave the hops and stick in for a week.

Thanks!

Damage is done if any was to be done. You said wheat beer and obviously were dry hopping it, thus I presume it was to be drank fresh. No worries. Name it Dry Sticked Wheat and enjoy it young.

Most likely you'll be fine, just leave it alone and just re-name the beer Moo Goo Gai Wheat:)

You're probably fine. Since this is in secondary, you could rack to another carboy but I wouldn't bother. There's likely enough alcohol in the beer to kill whatever is on your chopstick at this point and you'd loose most of your dry hops..
