I really want to start improving my brewing setup, unfortunately I'm not very handy when it comes to building things.

I've been shopping around and looking at options and I leaning to HERMS. I was thinking that maybe I could just place something like http://morebeer.com/view_product/19..._25_x_1_2"_Copper_with_1_2_in_Copper_Fittings or http://www.nybrewsupply.com/wort-ch...ort-chiller-garden-hose-fittings-38-x-50.html in the HLT and then use the pump to recirculate to the mash tun.

Any thoughts on that setup? Should I just try my hand at fitting a HERMS coil in my kettle? Is it even worth it or should I just go with a Direct fire (Brutus 10 style) approach?

+1 to StainlessBrewing

Have yet to purchase from them, but customer service and attention to HBT is top notch.

As for using and immersion chiller as a HERMs coil, no problem at all. Having it mounted into kettle is just a little cleaner looking. As I'm considered going all stainless in the future I will likely just do what you mentioned to avoid drilling and easier clean up.
