Hey everyone,

This is my first post on BrewTalk :), so please bear with me. So i just got done building my Mash tun, I used a 120 qt cooler and used cpvc pipes and used the rubber stopper from the cooler to seal up the inner part of the cooler. I connected everything and it is now seal proof, no leaks :). I have yet to drill bits into the cpvc pipes just yet, I was wondering what size of a bit is recommended for this or does anyone just recommend just doing slits with the saw i used? I have a bit that is a 10-32nf #21 drill bit, it looks like a decent size but I want to know for sure if its the right way to go? Also for the cpvc pipe line I am using 3/4 pipes rather then 1/2, do you guys think i should be fine size fore the pipe line since my cooler is bigger then many other ones?

thanks everyone,

Sash

The only homemade one ive seen in person just had some slits cut every few cm with a hack saw.

But if you want to drill holes I suppose the answer is....better too small than too big :D

Use a small drill bit, alot of holes to retard the channelling effect, and if you find the first time you use it you get a slow run off or ¤gasp¤ it gets stuck, at least you have the option of just running a larger drill bit through the existing...now...guide holes.
