Has anyone else done a double bagger? I wanted to do an 11.5 gal batch in my 35L Brewzilla (with extension, bigger malt pipe etc)... But I didn't think it would be easy to try and pull out that much grain without a winch. So .. I took my 23+ lbs of grain and split in into two BIAB loads. Worked out great and was able to transfer into a Spike CF-10 without any fuss. I love stupid solutions!

Today was packaging day and the gorgeous batch, Kona The Beerbarian is finishing up carbing.

I've stacked bags on an imperial stout. The recirculation definitely had a little more challenge getting through. I cinched up the lower bag and pushed it down and then the top bag stayed open at the top like a single bag normally would. I realized later that there was no reason to close up the lower bag. It definitely made squeezing 29 pounds of grain easier in half sizes.

My next double bagger is ... Side by side instead of one on top of the other. I think this will help the recirculation concerns. We shall see.

I forget who it was, a fairly regular poster I think, that split his large grain bills into two bags, side-by-side, held in place with clips, for the exact same reason OP did: easier to lift out half the grain, rather than all at once. Even had pictures, but damned if I can think of a good way to search for it.

update: Found it!
