Dogs and fermentation

When My wife got home from work she saw Wren (one of our border collies) pushing on the closed door of our spare bathroom (Where I have my fermenter on the bathtub). she would push on the door and look at my wife. My wife opened the door and Wren ran in, pushed the shower curtain out of the way jumped in and proceeded to enjoy the smell coming from the airlock.

Has anyone else seen this?

No, I swear I've never been in a shower with your wife OR your dog. I swear it, man.

My dogs always get to cleanup the mess from the brew or bottling session.

My boxer loves the airlock. Not sure if its the scent or the sounds. I have to put the carboy up high now when its fermenting so he wont slober/chew on it LOL

I'm with Cheese on this one...I've never been in the shower with your wife or dog. ..I did spent a little time in Korea and I have to tell you man, they don't even ferment dogs...

No, but I will attest that doggies, at least, my doggy, likes to eat spent grain. It's the sugars.

Cougar likes ale, but neither he or Katie have never shown any interest in the brewing process. Might be because I generally BBQ at the same time.

Both of my dogs LOVE beer, but i've never let them be around during brewing, and they can't get anywhere near where i keep the fermentors.

On a side note, anyone else read the latest edition of "Draft" magazine...they actually have a beer made for dogs (alcohol free, of course). I think it was called "slobber lager" or something along those lines. Too funny...i gotta try to get my hands on some of that!!!

Our dogs haven't shown much interest in the fermenter, but I couldn't keep one away from the bag with the crushed grains for my latest batch. She went nuts when I set the bag on a low table. I had to move it to the kitchen counter because I was afraid she'd decide it merited a taste test.

At our house the dogs will ignore the fermenter but love to eat the spent grains. The two Maine Coon Cats however will hang around the fermenter both watching the air lock bubble as well as putting their nose right up against the top to smell the escaping gas. The animals that really love the spent grains are the deer that get very tame and refuse to leave the yard if grains are on the compost pile.
