Looking for feedback on these malts havent used before but going for something different as i usually do every brew,so i can see what malts work well and dont!.

I don't think this is looking like an AIPA recipe, borderline session style or no. 17.5% cara/crystal is a lot for any beer but what I would consider a crap ton for an IPA. I know a little of that is carapils but then you've also got 5% special B which has a very strong and distinctive flavor. The melanoidin is also very strongly malty, which I guess is fine if you like it, but seems like a lot of strong flavors for the style and is definitely going to overpower the hop character. You've only got 2 oz of late hops, one of which is a delicate noble hop.
 
A lot of melanoiden. A lot.

Most I've used is 2oz in a 5.5 gallon batch. A little goes along way.

What's your base water profile? Where are you calculating the mineral additions from.

I don't like the malt overload here. I 'd can the recipe and start afresh
 
What if i knocked down the Carastan,Meloniden,Special b all to 8oz??
As for other hops i do have on hand.

Using Ro water and the mineral additions are what ive been using for most my brews that i think turned out well.
 
It's still a lot of those malts for me, but if you're going with it for a malty IPA I would probably do the following:
- mash low in the 148-150 range
- up the IBU's to 50-60
- get rid of the Saaz and throw in a bunch more finishing hops, like 4-5 oz in the 10 to 0 range and another few oz dry hop. I'd use your bolder American hops like columbus and summit, the zythos could stay in there.

That's still an awful lot of Melanioden and special B for my tastes. They are really extremely malty malts. I have no experience with Carastan.

I would delete the Melanoiden entirely if you're set on using all that special B and Carastan. Still not consistent with an IPA IMO but if you want a very malty APA-like brew go for it. The recipe seems more like an unbalanced amber ale I think.

In an IPA the hops should be the star of the show. They will be browned out with all the caramel and sweetness these malts will impart in your current recipe.

Just depends on if you really want an IPA or really want something else entirely.

Brew it and see what you think. Personal preferences are so wide and varied there is no wrong approach. If you are targeting a session IPA I think you're off the mark though, leading to disappointment perhaps.
