Does boiling with the lid on hurt an extract recipe?

I didn't know anything about taking the lid off for the boil on my first two batches and ended up boiling and cooling both with the lid on.

Unfortunately, I haven't even tasted a homebrew yet, so, I don't know if I have a problem or not.
 
Most likely. You're probably better off at least cracking the lid to avoid boilovers, if nothing else.
 
I'm not sure for how long the wort for the extract is boiled when it is produced. I'd expect that they would minimize this expense in energy. So my inclination is that the extract should have had enough DMS potential for it to become a problem it it is not driven off. Let us know if you notice a cooked corn or cooked vegetable aroma in the beer.
