My brother and I will be breaking into these tonight, along with a bunch of commercial Xmas beers, and some Belgians that another brewer brought back for me recently. I'm not as eloquent on discussing beers, and expect a degree of intoxication, but will at least *try* to post some thoughts. I only brought one of each, so I should be able to provide better notes later.

Last night I tried rhodes' juniper rye bock...very nice and malty finish, great for sipping, with a great piney juniper aroma. It was yet another that SWMBO couldn't keep her hands off once she had a taste!
Tonight I'm on the spiced bourbon stout. Very familiar flavors to me...I need to go look up the recipe in Randy's book, b/c the spice profile reminds me a lot of that in my gruit -- will be curious to see what's in common. The very dry finish is like one of my own favorite recipes using bourbon soaked oak (a vanilla porter). There's a great roasty presence, and this one is another winner that is a great relaxing sipper...

Thanks Scruffy! I only got 4 bottles of your IPA but the Shipwrecked IIPA compensates for them. Excellent presentation, me likey. :)

Now to the fridge!

That was because I only got 4 bottles from you and I wasn't sure how much I was supposed to send. Lol, I can send you a couple more of my IPA and that well bring it to the original 6 I owed you. Thank you, I saw yours and was like I must compare!

OMG! Really? It was supposed to be 3 bottles each for a total of 6. Sorry. No, don't spend the $. Anyone else received just 4 bottles from me?

I hope it was V. 1.0 because V. 2.0 are waaaayyyy overcarbed. Sorry about that. Want me to mail the missing bottles?

If you want, I can send you a couple more of my beers or you can see what we have here in san diego and i can send you two bottles of something from here.

You have Pliny there? Can't get them in New England. Want something from here? Or more of my beer?

Of course, we got pliney and blind pig. Pliney is one of my most favoritist beers ever. What ya got up there? I'm about to try your lambicky. I'll have a hard decision between craft and another lambicky.

Lovin' this lambicky, I have your recipe and i'll definitely be brewing this up. i poured the beer into the glass and smelled the empty bottle, heavenly raspberry aroma coming from the bottle, It smells absolutely fantastic. The raspberry flavor really comes through in this beer but doesn't over power it. I find it really nice and drinkable. My now ex would have loved this lol.

Wow, I'm on the Fruitcake Old tonight...amazing dark brown color and the aroma and flavor is a blend of chocolate and dried fruits. Nice and tart finish -- I think apricot is the dominant ester on my taste buds.

Got some Honey Ginger IPA in the mail today...gonna give those a few days to settle before busting open the first! I've gone ahead and put my v2.0 Lambicky in the refrigerator to start getting it cooled for tomorrow night...I'll probably even throw it in the freezer for an hour before (carefully!) :) opening it! Then I'll have to let it warm up a bit before drinking it, of course...

Glad u liked it. I lovevthe flavor of v. 2.0 better but its over carbed. I saw my favorite liqour store has Founder's Breakfast Stout if you're interested. Not sure if u got it there. I've never had THE Pliny, just clones. Would love to taste the original Elder and Younger. :D

Sfrisbe's Quad: OMG! Super stcky and sweet! Caramel and chocolate, a woman's best friend and drug. I'm loving this beer and definitely brewing the attached recipe.

Tried the Honey Ginger IPA. Super good. Can definitely get that English yeast. Ginger aroma and flavor. Honey aroma and flavor as well. :) Very English IPA. Not too bitter, not too sweet, not to thin, not too thick, just perfect :)

I'm so used to west coast ipas I thought it was bad. I was taking myself down

I'm going to enter it under the spiced category in a competition under 21b spiced christmas category, see how I do.

Got the v2.0 Lambicky good and cold, popped it and managed to quickly get the whole thing in an oversize 20 oz 'pint' glass I have. Took a while for the head to settle down, but it's worth it! Great raspberry aroma and flavor. Not overly sweet (one of my bitches about Lindeman's), but just enough FG to support the tart berry flavor and give it some body.
This is another one that I know SWMBO will like when I get into round two of these brews...

I just cracked open the bourbon barrel quad, unfortunately it's completely uncarbed. However, it's got great aroma and the flavor is there! This is a really delicious beer! A little thick, but I like thick. Good job.

Yea, most will find the regular quad a bit more palitable.

Got into this one (the quad) last night...a good sipper...sweet, but not cloying. I could see this going well with dessert. Perhaps something tart, like mixed berries with ice cream or fresh whipped cream? A nice counterpoint to the sweet caramel maltiness...

Tonight is the Ginger Snap...a solid brown ale, and it's amazing how readily you can recognize that ginger cookie aroma! Ginger snaps have always been one of my favorite cookies...

I'm having the gingersnap now. I have not had a beer yet I did not like, you guys are amazing brewers.

Just got home and cracked open the spiced cherry dubble. I am writing this in more of a stream of consciousness while I drink it.

First I took a deep breath as I opened the bottle, strong, strong cherry smell with a hint of the malt. I am drinking out of a St. Bernardus snifter that I got for Christmas that really lets the beer breath and enhances any aroma in the beer. The pour looked gorgeous, started off a lighter orange/red that continued getting darker and darker as I poured. When I hold the beer up to a strong light it is very clear. Carbonation is good, poured with a minimal head that dissolved to a fine ring of bubbles around the glass.

Finally time to take a drink. Minimal sweetness pulls to a very tart finish. The cherries really shine through and dominate the palate. I handed the beer to SWMBO she took a drink and said that it was delicious. I quickly took the glass back to avoid the situations described earlier in this thread :) This is a really great beer and a great start to the tasting. Thanks a bunch Usfmikeb!

Had the Juniper Rye Bock earlier today. That was a very good beer. Poured with just the right amount of carbonation ending with about a quarter inch of head that dissolved slowly while drinking. This beer was incredibly smooth and had a wonderful taste to it. Wish I could describe it better but it was delicious.

I am sending the tracking numbers via PM now. I bottled them in 22 oz bottles. So, I sent 2 of those and instead of 3 12 oz. One less bottle, but 8 more oz of beer. Sorry if that annoys anyone, but I had these bottles all ready to go and didn't want to delay any longer.

It's totally fine, for a minute I thought you were out. Thank you and happy new year!

Enjoying my last Cherry Dubbel. These last 2 were gushers. I guess whatever happened to my Lambicky happened to this one as well.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't had any that were like that, but you might have gotten a couple that got more priming sugar than the rest.

It's OK. Still tasted great!

KFH,

Anything to share with the group?

Yes, actually.

I apologize for the delay in getting my portion shipped out. I've been having some fairly major (and VERY uncomfortable) health issues lately, which is absolutely perfect timing with the holidays. :) I'm just about patched up now and I'll be getting my boxes mailed out within the next day or so.

Awesome! 100% attendance. I'm sorry about your health issues. I hope you get back to full health. Sorry for thinking you were out.
