I brewed up my 2nd batch of homebrew last night. A soon to be delicious (fingers crossed) Nutty Brown Bear Ale.

I was all smart and decided to warm up the malt cans in hot water since last time I didn't do that and regretted it. I peeled the labels off the cans before I put the in the water but didn't peel every last scrap of paper off. I guess some of that fell into the wort when i poured the malt in because I could see a few dime sized scraps of label swirling around the brew pot. I tried the best i could to fish them out with my spoon but I think there was still a couple left. I ran the wort through a sanitized colander when i poured it in the bucket in hopes of catching them but it was full of hops and swill so I don't know if I got them all or not.

Tell me this won't have any major adverse effect on the beer. They'll just settle out during primary. Right? Right??

Man, I've had all sorts of shenanigans fall into my beer. My last mash, a carboy cap fell in. I have had leaves fall into the boil, a moth...it'll be fine, is what I'm saying.

Yea, you're fine. My worst one was having the O ring on my brew bucket lid fall in when I was putting the airlock on. Ended up having to stick my whole arm in to find it. Turned out great.

Ya don't worry about it. Unless you took the labels and mulched them into a nice pulp and then added it to your brew - I'm talking purposefully added many chopped up labels etc.

Ya bottoms and don't worry.

HEHE leaves in the kettle, gotta love falltime brewing. I'd say either way have a homebrew. Either relax and don't worry, or get stressed up. Either way a beer is great!

As long as the wort was boiling at the time the labels fell in I wouldn't be too worried. Even if you were about to pitch the yeast and the labels fell in I still wouldn't be too concerned (but then again, if you were adding LME to the wort before pitching the yeast you would have a lot of other problems).

I didn't even think about it but yeah brewing outside would be pretty probably that stuff is going to fall in the pot sooner or later. The labels fell in before i even brought it to a boil, so they are good and sterilized now. I guess this beer will just have a little extra fiber.
