Well I have seen a few friends in the past brew their own and have decided that it is time to start going myself. In the coming days I plan to get all of the necessities required to complete my first batch. I am working on a budget for the first few batches and plan to add equipment as I go. I am going to the brewhaus tomorrow and will set up a guide for making your own kit and the first steps to gettting set up.

I am going to get an amber ale for my first attempt and then move on to stouts which are my favorite.

plan to spend around $100 for a beginners kit, which might include a box of ingredients...or not. really depends on the shop.

also read www.howtobrew.com - the book is great, the online book is a great condensed version.

Actually I am not planning on buying a starter kit. I plan to build my own with the use of a few additional pieces. I do plan to buy a glass carboy, airlock, bottle capper and some sanitizing solution. I have a stainless steel 6 gallon soup pot, and a thermometer. I am not sure as to which ingredients that I will be getting until I go to the brewstore. Including the ingredients I dont think that I will have to spend more than $60 for my first batch, the brewstore near me has a 5 gal glass carboy for 20 buck so I am ready to go.

:mug: Stouts are just as easy to brew as ambers,Imperial stouts have more ingredients and take more time to age.:mug:

any particular stouts I should try for the first batch? Reading the brewto link right now will post more tomorrow after I get to the store.
