I'm building out some new equipment and thought I might convert my "old" electric BK keg to a MLT. With no sparge (full volume mash) and mash recirc at 1/2 gal per minute. Has anyone tried direct firing a mash with a ulwd element? I can run the camco 5500w at 120v to reduce the watt density further or use my SSR to limit duty cycle. I'll attempt it no matter what in 2 weeks, just looking for insights from anyone who might have tried it.

I do this all the time. It is pretty common with full volume biab recirculating with 5500w ulwd element. The ulwd element is the key.
