Also of note is that the refractometer in his picture shows a part number of MA-887, not MA-871. MA-887 matches to their Seawater Refractometer.

You're correct this is the MA887 model, buyer beware.

hmm, it does look like the seawater one with the third button.

but on the unit it says must be calibrated to 0 for Brix or 1.000 for seawater? anyone know how the seawater ones work?

edit: quick calc in beersmith would have the first posters beer at 10.5% ABV, and a og of 1.088...possible but unlikely?

off-topic, but you got me scared now...the one i bought is in transit right now, but it had the exact same Title, but different tumbnail.....


should have it saturday, or monday....different sellers, with different locations

i was looking into to built in calculations they use for a different refractive indexs. maybe i could convert it....

(still more fun then pumpin a few $20's into a slot machine, i'll see if he takes my $40 offer, lol)
