I know there are flip-tops and caps but I was wondering if anyone has come across a place to purchase out of the ordinary bottles for homebrewing. Maybe something outside of the standard size and/or shape. I would like to find something maybe a little unique to put some seasonal recipes in. I am leaning toward just doing the 1Liter flip-tops but wanted to see if there was anything else out there.

The Dogfish Head 750ml bottles are pretty cool....darker & thicker glass, takes normal crown. But I don't see them for sale without beer in them. I had a buddy give me a couple empties.

You could do 750ml Belgian bottles too, but they need to be corked and caged. Most homebrew shops sell these.

Yea, the 750ml bottles were along the lines I was thinking but I don't want to deal with corking and caging them. Does anyone know where you can find a Belgian styled bottle that is cappable (is that even a word? lol) ??

You can usually borrow a corker from your LHBS (might be free or a few bucks to rent). I think I did the math and the cages and corks work out to around $0.45 per bottle...as opposed to like $0.02 for caps. I bought a Colonna corker/capper and used that to cork Belgians. Kind of a waste if you don't use it very often.

Another option is to just get 22oz bombers and then use bottle wax. http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/catalogsearch/result/?q=wax

Here's a thread on it: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/waxing-beer-bottle-caps-115188/

The 1L flip-tops are cool. Kinda pricey. I think there are almost double the price of 750ml Belgians at my LHBS...like $20 per 12 for belgians and close to $40 for 1L ez-caps.

Not sure what TricorBraun's min order is, but they have some (list of all with crown finish)

The list on that link can actually be expanded if you click on the "Only show items that have images" box. Total results are 129 products. I don't know the details of ordering from them, but it might be worth calling them.

Thanks for the tip MrFoodScientist! I checked it out and made a call....they have a thousand dollar minimum order. OUCH lol I don't think i need unique bottles that bad. But thanks again for the tip

Jolly Pumpkin and Founders 750ml bottles are awesome. They are traditional belgian shape, but take a normal crown cap. The bottles are also quite heavy and can handle very high pressure. Sierra Nevada 750ml bottles (not their 22oz) are very similar but made of a slightly thinner glass.
