Ok. Long story made short.
I brewed a porter. Ran out of gaz on bbq and by the time i came back home and reheated everything. I barely had time to boil the wort for 15 to 20 minutes. I then had to leave for work so i cooled wort down and added yeast.
Luckily my wife cleaned up the mess.

So my question is will the beer still taste pretty good ? OG was pretty low due to no water evaporation. I even had to throw away some wort that did not fit in fermenter.

So i guess it will be a porter "light".
But what will be the effect of boiling only 20 minutes. We dont just boil to evaporate water,its gotta have other uses.

Also: always make sure you have enough gas before starting a brew. Its like 40 celsius outside so i did not want to boil inside kitchen. But was not expecting to run out of time on bbq.

Well, you're not gonna have a very alcoholic beer...what was the OG?

You might also get some weird flavors by not boiling off the DMS
 
Your beer will still be beer, just not the one you originally went after. If you've never brewed a 1.040 beer, you might be pleasantly surprised.
 
if you used pilsner malts as your base malt, you'll have a small chance of dms flavors. but since you've likely got a lot of dark malts in there, this is kinda a moot point. plus if you used pale malts as your base, it's more than likely a moot point.

the one thing it will affect is your bitterness. if you're using software, go in and change the boil time and the hop addition time, and watch how many ibus you'll lose. luckily this is a style with low ibus anyway. and since your OG is also lower than expected, then your BU:GU ratio might have stayed pretty close to the original. in other words, the perceived bitterness might be about the same as before.

so what i'm saying is, there's nothing you can do about it now. you've still got beer that you'll be able to drink. and hell since it's pretty low OG, you may be able to turn this one around quicker than normal if you have your fermentation parameters under control. i'm sure this won't be the ****tiest beer you've ever drank.
