Hello all. I got the monster brew kit to start with.. came with 3 5 gallon kits and all ingredients. I did the first two (Amber Ale, India Pale Ale) with the exact instructions. The batch I am doing now is an American Wheat Ale and I slightly altered the recipe. Instead of using the UK first gold hops that came with the kit I went to a brewing store right here in Tempe, AZ and got American grown Hallertau hops.. we'll see! The last two batches I made I let ferment for about 3 weeks each but didn't let them settle in the bottles long enough after adding priming sugar.. green D: I'm going to let this one go for about two weeks and focus on keeping it in the bottles longer! Just wanted to share.. any experience on these American grown hallertaus? -Thanks

It has a smooth spice to it that's not overbearing. The US Perle is nice like that too. I used US Perle & Czech Saaz in my 1st APA. Good smooth spice where the piney thing in the Saaz was changed to a nondescript fruitiness.

I came to do the same

ALTERATION**** I'm sure you realized what it was meant to be. Anyways, thanks for pointing that out and not giving any advice on my actual post. :mug:

You trying to start an altercation? :ban:

OP; I think that American Hallertau will be perfect for the beer you describe... better, IMO, than the UK First Gold.
