Did I screw it up?

Hey everyone! Very new to the Kombucha fermenting world and just had a couple of questions.

1st off. I brewed a batch of kombucha that ended up being way too vinegary...so I started another batch. One with my original mother and then one that I got from a friend. I decided this time I would let it sit for 2 weeks.
So today I checked in on them....one looked fine to me, normal, yeasty, all that good stuff. The second one, I had three parts to it (looked like there were three separate scoby's) and the one on top looked...well, basically like cellulite. Is this normal? So I know for future reference?

But it doesn't end there...I did something stupid, I grabbed a clean metal spoon to taste each batch. I do not believe the spoon touched either scoby's in each separate jars but I also used the same spoon in between both jars. They both tasted exactly the same to me...
Did I basically screw up all that work?

I must admit, the brew that looked like "cellulite", I threw out because I just was NOT sure...
But what about using a metal spoon?? And using the spoon in the one batch and then the other? Should I throw this batch out now too? The scoby looks so good in the first batch though.

Two more questions.
1) can you get really sick off 'bad' kombucha?
2) what exactly does kombucha taste like? I only ever get GTs from the store and just want to be sure I know what I am doing. I also don't want to get sick!

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!

Ps. The other "good" batch I put in the fridge....because I want to make sure it's okay to drink...since I used the metal spoon and also shared between batches.

Okay I'll shut up now. :p
Thank you!!

It should taste similar to your store bought kombucha. If it smells or tastes off, as in really unpleasant, pitch it. Not sure about the spoon, i only use wood or plastic. Be aware that even if everything is perfect, home brewed kombucha can have a cleansing effect. Start slow with just an oz per day ....if that goes well, gradually increase that very slowly. My hubby never had this happen but I sure did ;)
