So Im currently fermenting my first mead. My recipe for a 5 gallon batch includes:
17 pounds blackberry honey
4 gallons water
1.100 OG
20 grams of Lalvin 71B-1122
Staggered nutrient additions
Fermenting at 68 degrees Fahrenheit
So my question is did I pitch too much yeast? I used the pitch rate calculator at mrmalty.com, which is designed for beer. Does anyone know how the taste is affected from going from 10 to 20 grams of yeast?
Thanks for any help.
