The recipe below was my failed attempt of another recipe that I found on this site..("Wild Dog Days of Summer Ale"), which is a great recipe. I could not get simcoe, and forgot the corn sugar (lol)..

Cracked the first one today, only after one week in bottle, and it was great. I could not wait.

Did I brew an IPA by accident? FG was 1.010, ABV 5.46%

Boil Time: 60 min
Batch Size: 5.9 gallons
Boil Size: 6.34 gallons
Efficiency: 70%

STATS:
Original Gravity: 1.052
Final Gravity: 1.012
ABV (standard): 5.21%
IBU (tinseth): 40.45
SRM (morey): 5.35

FERMENTABLES:
7 lb - Dry Malt Extract - Light (93.3%)

STEEPING GRAINS:
0.5 lb - Caramel / Crystal 20L (6.7%)

HOPS:
0.5 oz - Summit (AA 18.5) for 60 min, Type: Pellet, Use: Boil
1 oz - Amarillo (AA 8.6) for 10 min, Type: Pellet, Use: Boil

OTHER INGREDIENTS:
1.6 oz - Orange Peel, Time: 10 min, Type: Spice, Use: Boil
1 tsp - Whirlfloc, Time: 15 min, Type: Fining, Use: Boil

YEAST:
White Labs - California Ale Yeast WLP001
Starter: Yes
Form: Liquid
Attenuation (avg): 76.5%

Optimum Temperature: 68 F - 73 F
 
nO. a Few points off wont put you in ipa territory,its expected you wont get exact.It seems more like a summery mild fruit/ citrusy pale ale though-just looking at the recipe. It doesnt seem to fit into amber srm(color) either.Not really much malt for an amber.The hops should get you some fruit notes.If your primary temps were around 70+ you may get even more fruitiness from that-just pointing that out.Your og and color dont fit into ipa territory either. Pale ale.
