Hi all,

I am thinking this must be a fried electrode which I let dry out some time ago, and tried to bring back by storage solution. I tried a few trials then and the results were reasonable, so I thought we were good.

All water treated the same:
For each 10 gallons of DI water: 14 g gypsum, 3.5 g CaCl. No acids used.

Malt:

25.75 # Maris
1 # C60

Mashed in at 1: qt/# or 6.66 gallons treated water for the above grist bill. 149F.

5 minutes in, took sample as usual, 4.80 and 4.81, two readings.

That makes no sense to me, except to think my electrode my need to be switched (I have a backup now). Or, I've missed something. Anyone?

Did you test the calibrated electrode in the calibration solutions again? They should read correctly and not drift (much).
After drying out some electrodes may never work well again.
But some will revive after a long soak in storage solution or need a soak in some HCl (Muriatic Acid) of the correct strength.

Or just use your new probe, and come back to the old one if you feel like reviving it.
