has anyone made a deep freezer setup before? if so is it worth it or would i be better off just using a mini fridge?

the only reason i was thinking about using a deep freezer was some times i like brewing 2 batches that overlap.

Overlap by how much? Your ales only need temperature control until the fast part of the ferment is over, usually 3 to 5 days. After that you can take the fermenter out of the cooler and let it sit until done at room temperature. Unless you are brewing every 3 days there won't be a problem.:)

I built a sweet ferm chamber out of a chest freezer. I can fit 3 5 gallon carboys and 2 1 gallon jugs at any given time. If you decide this route is best make sure you get a big freezer.

I setup a 7 cf chest freezer for use as s lager ferm chamber using a single stage temp controller w/ a small fan. I also use it for cold crashing & carbing ales.
I have a different chamber made using a mini fridge for ales that also has the ability to beat when needed. I use a dual stage temp controller & fan.
