Garagiste Meadery Blue Mountain

Espresso. Blueberry. Richness. Sweet.

Afternoon was spent at a local brewery (Imperial Oak > Open Outcry for those in Chicagoland), and now I'm settling in for the evening with a great mead while watching the second half of the Cubs / Cardinals doubleheader. I'm amazed at how well the coffee has maintained in this compared to a beer of the same age, no oxidation or negative coffee character to be found. Espresso / Blueberry aroma and flavor with a base honey sweetness and clean fermentation profile, finishes sweet but the coffee cuts that and adds a bit of body to it as well. Hoping the caffeine gives me enough of a boost to make it through a west coast Phish show on the couch this evening.

Really counted on the neighborhood party to hang. Ultimate fail. They even had a bunch of Spotted Cow, some Ballast Point, and Maplewood. I overestimated their staying power. So I'm here opening beer five with you. Started with Trillium Running Naked, then Focal Banger, then Frost Lush, and Alchemist Crusher. Figured I wouldn't be just helping clean up then coming home by now. Solo beers it is. And some Pearl Jam Wrigley 8/22/16 bootleg.

bunch of releases this weekend, sara collab, alpha acid barrel constrictors and legit sours for fieldwork!

damn, ok this sour program is forreal. last one was great and this is super solid too. if they keep this up they might get on the sour map.
