Opinions seem to differ here. Do I need to buy a carboy for secondary fermentation over cherries or will primary bucket addition of fruit work?
thanks, Mike

If you use plastic then you wont be able to use that plastic for non-sour beer anymore. That and since it has to age for 12-18 months you want to use something you don't mind not having until 2013

Yes you can use plastic but like Jolly said you cant use it again for a non sour beer.

I am ordering NB's kit within a month and will convert one of my plastic Coopers into sour aging vessel. What I plan to do is primary in the bucket for 9+ months until I drop cherries on top of the same bucket and let it sit for 6+ months.

I thought plastic allows way too much oxygen transfer. Ive heard of people using a glass carboy with a peg stuck in the top made of oak to allow the right amount of oxygen in.

Thanks guys..I think i will use my plastic fermenter and buy a new bucket for anything i want to brew in the near future

Let me know how yours turns out, we're doing this kit as our New Years Day brew this year.
