I'm a TB newbie and this is my first Dark Lord Day (Group B!). Looking forward to sharing beers at the compound, scoring a TB taster, and hopefully getting a BIF going

I, too, am a TalkBeer newbie, but not a DLD newbie, and I am bravely in group E this year, so I expect to make trips all over the ******* place during the festival. Someone needs to make a Google map with all of the spots worth visiting. Like a treasure map. A treasure map for beer sharing.
It would be the whole map. I've shared pours on the way to take a piss.

"As part of our 2015 event permit with the State of Indiana, we will not be selling packaged beer at Dark Lord Day. However, we are working on arrangements to be sure that people are able to purchase Three Floyds packaged beer varieties by visiting other area merchants on the days surrounding Dark Lord Day. We will update our website with that information as soon as it is available. We apologize for the inconvenience and change in past procedures, but it is important that we work within the parameters given us by the Excise police."

One of the Mensa members on BA was wondering about this year's BADL variants.

"What if there's one with vanilla AND coffee?!"

Now, just waiting for the FT: DL cellar aged with Coffee and Vanilla....like a used car salesman taking advantage of those guppies. LOOK AT THE PROFILE BRO.

normally i love to hate on new money but honestly, it's pretty easy to make this mistake. when was the last time any vintage of DL actually showcased the coffee that went into it?

And I believe last year was when they switched to Dark Matter which brought about some amount of hullabaloo - granted, most of it being limited to "OMG! Intelligentsia is going to be so PISSED! LOL WUT? COFFEE YO".

I've tried two bottles of regular '14 Dark Lord. One was a nasty sweet drain pour that felt like it left sugar granules in my teeth. The other had a good balance between sweetness and bitterness and a big coffee note. Go figure.

The only really gross/undrinkable bottles I've ever had were the 2012's that were half-filled with yeast/sludge/DNA from all three of the floyds.

Each bottle I had was like the good one you had. I'd question the storage conditions of the nasty one.

Wanted to get there early this year, ended up with group E. One month is enough time to train for that marathon...

I dunno about you but I'm always in training.... and no a month is definitely not enough time to prepare yourself for the amount of beer you will likely consume DLD weekend.... but hey I guess if it helps ya sleep better at night!

Cheers

Assuming there still is a bottle share. No one's talking about the "No Coolers" rule in the FAQs. Does that mean no beers inside the fence this year? They stopped anyone from bringing more in a round 3 last year. Maybe the city got tire of allowing this thing? This could be the last year anyone gives a **** if they don't.
To answer my own question:

"CAN I BRING MY OWN BEER?

We allow people to bring limited amounts of beer for trading and sampling with other beer lovers. The idea is to celebrate craft beer, so we ask that you only bring in beers that are unique – ones that can’t be found just anywhere. Please no beers that can be found at any corner market. No coolers will be allowed on the property.

-------

ARE BACKPACKS PERMITTED?

Backpacks are permitted at Dark Lord Day."

So whales in backpacks only.

I'd actually been thinking cans just because they'd be lighter. Now I'm wondering how much Bud Light I can bring in.
