Dark Horse off flavor, anyone else notice it?

I love and support the Dark Horse brewery from Marshall, Michigan and the recent TV series "Dark Horse Nation", but I just cracked my first beer from a six pack of their Sapient Trip Ale (Belgian style trippel) and at first I got an odd minty flavor, and liked it the first couple sips, but each further sip it became more and more abrasive, now I'm halfway through the bottle and I might as well be sucking down Nyquil. I've had this beer before from bottles and no problems, anyone else run into this?

I just bought some of this, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll try one and report back.
