I just started brewing kombucha and I've ran off two batches (one with black tea and the second with green tea), and now I'm on my third batch, using green tea.

I have two scobies, a larger and newer one, and my first scoby which looks a bit beat-up now.

Yesterday I noticed that my first scoby was starting to get dark grayish/greenish coloring to it, as you see here:

Now today I see a similar-colored spot underneath the 2nd scoby:

Is this bad? :(

I should add that the green stuff is underneath the scoby. I lifted the scoby to look at it, and it's stringy like yeast but green like green tea particles. But it isn't green tea particles. It's something that is growing very quickly. o_O

Here are two more pictures:

Best I can tell, it's the same as this, just less dramatic (this is a picture of someone else's kombucha brewing I found online):

It's just yeasts being yeasty, no cause for alarm.
Green things you should be concerned about, would be only on the surface and fuzzy. Just like how you would observe them on bread.

Yes, that looks like typical kombucha yeast. Maybe it doesn't seem very appetizing, but there's nothing wrong with your brew...

I was thinking/hoping it was just yeast, but I just needed some reassurance, didn't want to kill myself you know. ;)

Thanks guys.
