I wonder if anyone here may have experience with the Danby designer dwc283bls-1. It has two compartments and a dual thermostatic controller, but the partition makes the lower compartment too short for a 6 gallon carboy. My intention is to remove the partition (which is easily removed like a shelf) and use this thing to lager beer, but the controller is also wired into two fans and sensors.

In case anyone was wondering, turns out the compressor is hosed up on this thing anyhow. I guess I'll be investigated alternate lagering methods in the future.

I use one of these regularly. How do you know the compressor is hosed? I thought mine was busted too, but it turns out there is a controller in the partition that turns on/off the compressor.

Just want to make sure you dont toss a perfectly good fridge!

I gutted the middle partition, and all the computer parts in there were actually contained in a box that I then stuck to the side wall.

My only complaints with it has been the limited temperatures. It will go to 61 max warmth and 39 max cool. If it'd just do 34-70 it woulda been perfect!

Well, right now the behavior is that when turned on it simply sits there and makes a humming noise. The interior gets slightly warmer and the compressor becomes hot (too hot to touch eventually). None of the tubes gets cold.

Bummer, when mine kicked on after i ripped out that middle shelf it just sat there doing nothing. Once I reconnected the electronics from that middle zone it kicked right on like normal. Sorry to hear.
