That would be good in "C" Rats (canned) really...MRE's are pouches you place in a bag with a little water that heats up the meal.

Speaking of "blowing up", I left out the Mine Dispenser (Volcano) and Mine Clearing line Charge (MICLIC)...owned by the Marines btw...the last "sheet" I blew up was in Korea...a couple of miles from the DMZ...

I'm not even going to get into the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Equipment I used to work with......beach assaults and training alongside the Special Forces (3 tours at Ft. Bragg)...(and other things I can never/will never talk about...)

Yes, I did. When did you go in in 1999? I drove my M109 Shop Van in the first wave from Skopje to Bondsteel (Urosevac/Djilane) in June...3 days after the bombing stopped. Remember when Bondsteel was just a field of weeds?
And those long lines of trucks we used to pass up at the border?

Second tour I was at Montieth (the second one, not the one on the hill...that's where we met the Secretary of Defense)...

I met (and shook hands with) Alexander Haig when he was a general in Germany back during REFORGER in 1977 or 78...and shook hands with Hillary Clinton back in the 90s (I know...nothing to brag about ).

I came in August. My unit went in June (10SFG), but I had just gotten back from Bosnia so I wasn't picked for the first wave. When they got there, they needed more people and sent back for me and about 15 others. I spent my 21st there on that first rotation.

When I got there, they were just starting to get all the tents really organized. We still had the field mice running all over...

BUT, even though we had to eat MRE's for lunch and dinner, we did get a REAL food breakfast every day at the mess tent over by the field hospital at the bottom of the hill, and that mean: BACON!!! (and scrambled eggs with shells in them of course...)

If you're talking to me, no. I didn't know him. I did support the Sappers (Combat Engineers) small arms and MICLICs. I think the unit there at that time was 1/9th Eng.

Is he a friend/relative or something?


Airborneguy: Yeah, I know MREs 3 meals a day for 3 months before the real food came in. Whenever I could I ate downtown or back at Skopje or the NATO facility.

We stopped at the McDonald's a lot in Skopje and took food back. Once I set a #1 in front of my tent mate when he was at his computer and the Col saw me do it and asked me where I got it (from)...I said "I know you can read so I really hope you're being rhetorical..." No reply... The other LAR enjoyed it.

Yeah, when we pulled up our tent we had 13 dead mice under our plywood & MRE case flooring. I still can't believe we couldn't smell that.

Baker was with me in Iraq from 03-04 and I know he was in Kosovo with the 101 before that but I'm not sure which year.

I just retired (in June) with 36 years, 9 months and a couple of days of Federal service to this country. I was Active Army in Artillery (I worked on the M102, M114, and M198 Towed, M109 and M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers) for 7 years (1972-1980 and no, I did not go to 'Nam).

I have been to every Army, fort, base, camp, station and US Kaserne in the US, Germany, Italy and Korea...many more than once and several MANY, MANY times. Unfortunately, none in SWA because I've been training my 4 replacements for the past 2 years.

I spent a minimum of 15 weeks (many more over 20 weeks) a year on the road supporting the soldiers.

Sure I was young once. I joined the Army at 17 when the draft was still on. Afterwards I spent almost 30 years as a Department of the Army Civilian. I was a GS-12 (equivilant rank of Major) from 1996 to retirement.

I know everything there is to know about every small arms the Army has. I worked in Direct Support as a Small Arms Repairer and Inspector for 5 years and supported them for another 20 plus.

I've worked and taught soldiers and civilians on every towed artillery piece up to the triple 7. But I have performed M777 modifications at Forts Lewis and Sill as well as Goose Creek.

My last job (6+ years), I was the Equipment Specialist for the Paladin, M109A6 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer. I've been to Anniston Army Depot, AL at least a dozen times on the Paladin program, as well as modifying the 120mm Mortars. I also did this Germany and Korea while working the Paladin. I was responsible for all the technical actions for the howitzer to include provisioning, maintenance, writing and updating the TMs, applying modifications. Whenever soldiers or civilians had a problem in the field I was the person they would call. I went to Korean every year for the last 6 years to teach the Paladin Digital Fire Control System to civilians and mechanics.

The 9 years I spent in Germany were for our collective Uncle. While there I did two tours in Kosovo as an Armament Logistics Assitance Representative (LAR). I was NOT A CONTRACTOR!!!! . I supported all the weapons systems in theater, including the Kiowa and Apache 50 cal and rocket pods.

There's more, but why go one...this isn't a job interview. I know a person of my experience can't be made in 5, 10, or even 20 years. :rockin: Yes, I am well aware of worth to this country.

The funny thing is that if I ever wanted to return (back to work) I could go to almost any country in the world because our military weapons are there.

I'm not debating the definitions. I'm just saying that there is a difference between being opinonated and being self-righteous. Do you not agree that I can have opinions about alot of stuff thus making me opinonated but not thinkg I or my opinions are better than yours?
