AHH. Finially got most of the stuff to start an all-grain process. I have one Keg that I will cut a circle out of the top (5 gallon bucket template) to heat the sparge water in for tier 1. Have a plastic lauter tun (mini-mash) for tier 2. The second keg will be my final tier 3 wort boiling pot, but I'm not sure how to cut it, or what I will do to strain the pellet hops out on it's way to the primary. I'm afraid that if I don't cut into the side, I may have a sanitation problem. I'm certainly not above adding a valve to the bottom if there is a good way to hold the hops back.

Any good ideas?

Thanks! Paul

just buy one from sabaco for $59 it is already cut. I went thru 6 blades on the saws-all cutting mine so it ain't easy.

i used an angle grinder with a cut-off-disk -
took about five minutes to get the top cut off, another ~10 minutes of grinding with the grinding wheel just to make things smooth
im still trying to figure out just what i'll do for a spiget on the bottom, or whether ill just leave it the way it is and commit to siphoning for a while.
good luck

That's what I did, but it still has to be drilled for a bulkhead (or bulkheads, depending on what you want). And these things aren't made from tin....drilling them ain't easy! If I had to do it over, I'd start with one of their universal keg kettles. I think it's worth the extra $40, and they're probably the best deal going for boil kettles.

I might add that the DIY kettle is a good deal if you've got the tools to drill it, and just want to upgrade it as you get the $$ to do so.

the extra $40 might be a good idea if you don't have the step drill bit already ($33 at home depot). I did weldless bulkhead/spigot,sight tube and therm.
