I wanted to have a pump base that was durable, easy to clean, would not mold and had to ability to capture some spilled liquid. My solution was to use a poly cutting board. While it wont catch as much liquid as I would like, it does have a built in handle as an added bonus. The drip shield is from Synergy Brewing Systems which I got several years ago, and yes it was a little spendy. Previously I had the pump mounted to a piece of plywood.
