I saw a recipe:

9 lbs 2 row
2.5 lbs marris otter
8 oz crystal 120

hops
other hops
etc.......

Raisiny, dubbelish 120?

Sounds crazy enough to work, but also crazy enough to be GROSS.

I am talking my HOMEGROWN harvest IPA, so experimentation is OK, but I'm not trying anything too crazy.

i think both maharaja and the green flash west coast ipa use c120...

edit: oops just looked, the green flash used carastan...

some homebrewer claims it is his best IPA.

I agree with the marris, I agree crystal of some sort, but 120?

I just did a Green Flash Hop Head Red that used a bunch of C120. Took that and a pretty tame APA to a party this weekend. They kicked the red keg in less than an hour. APA I brought home.

Good point eskimo.

I just made the best chili of my life.

I put cumin, clove, and cinnamon in it. You can't detect any of those individual spices, they are muted and in near perfect balance.

I've used c120 in an ESB that was absolutely killer, might be a bit too much for an AIPA though depending on your tastes.

I'm from the zero crystal in my IPAs camp. However, 120 would be fine in restraint. With 120 I wouldn't go over .25lb per 5 gals.

I'm not really a fan. In small amounts (<4oz) it works well in bitters and ESB's, but I do find that the dark fruit flavours really clash with strong fruity hop flavours.
