I bought a counterflow chiller from a friend that quit brewing. I used it for the first time two weeks ago and ended up transferring the wort to fast which resulted in 85* wort much too warm for where I like to pitch.

Curious if there is an easy way to test the wort temp flowing into the BK? Any tips or tricks?

I sanitize my thermometer and place it in the stream coming out the CFC. If it's too hot I'll either slow the wort flow or turn up the water flow.

I re-circulate into my bk for 30 minutes to get the temps down pitching temps..that's for 20 gallons of wort...
