I am pondering an idea to save a couple bucks in my new herms system.
I was originally going to have a coil in the HLT, then i started thinking of a coil in a seperate heat exchanger for smaller volume of water. Lastly i thought about making a CFC with 1/2" copper and rubber tubing.
Has anyone pumped water from HLT through the outside portion of a CFC and wort through the inner coil? Despite additional heat loss (could use insulation for hoses) any other factors I should be aware of?
thanks again brewers!
