Do you just depress the gas-in side to purge? and what psi will that release? does anyone have any expierence with these?

I have 4 kegs without the release valve. You are spot on, all you have to do is depress the gas in side and that will do the exact same thing as the release valve would. As for your psi question, you cannot measure how much gas you release with these styles or with the release valve type. If you depress for a long time you will get rid of all the gas inside the tank if you just do a spurt of gas, you only release a little bit.

P-S-S-S-S-S-S-T is about 5 psi on a half full keg,
P-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S T is about 15

Leaking regulator? Check with soap bubbles. Check the seals inside the nut on the regulator. Spray the bubbles and turn the gas on 15psi. The bubbles will show the leak..

Hopefully the OP didn't fill his keg above the gas dip tube ;) I do that nearly all the time but I use ball lock kegs, all with relief valves.

fwiw, you can actually use the low pressure regulator gauge to get a decent reading on the keg pressure, but it's only practical with kegs that do have separate relief valves...

Cheers!

Havnt filled the keg yet getting my co2 tomorrow. Hope tjere isnt any leaks. And ill make sure not to fill up to the gas in stem. I was wondering at which psi it realeases from the "emergency release valve". Whatever is where the reg release valve usually is. Thanks for all the input. This is my first time kegging. Mad the place that fills co2 is closed on weekends!

[...]I was wondering at which psi it realeases from the "emergency release valve". Whatever is where the reg release valve usually is.[...]

The kegs are usually rated for around 130-150 psi, and iirc the relief valves are usually set for around 80-90 psi...

Cheers!

Damn, damn, damn. So this is why a little beer came out when I removed the poppet. I let it bleed out then hooked the CO2 back up and repeated till no beer came out. I hope I purged correctly and I didn't fill the corny too much

Do yourself a favor, and get a second gas disconnect. Attach one end of a 3 foot-or-so section of hose to the disconnect, and place the other end into a soda bottle. Use this to bleed off the keg. If you happen to fill up the keg passed the gas dip tube, using this setup will at least allow it to shoot through the disconnect/hose and into the bottle, instead of your face.
