Corny keg with no handle

Hey All,

I got a killer deal on some used kegs from a former homebrewer - $5 each if I cleaned them out. They all hold pressure, and only need a little refurbishing with some new o-rings, etc.

The issue is that I have one keg that the plastic handle has come detached from the keg and is missing. It's the type of corny keg with the black plastic ring that surrounds the top, allowing it to stand stably upside-down.

Is there anywhere that I can get that black plastic ring? And if so, how would I attach it to the keg? When a keg is full of delicious beer, it's a real PITA to have to carry it around like I'm competing in a strongman competition. Any ideas?

Over the past month or so, I've been keeping track of retailers and their prices on corny kegs & parts, and I don't recall seeing a single store online (of nearly 4 dozen or so) that sells just the handles. However, there is one retailer - homebrewing.org - that has "loose handle" ball locks for $9.99. The description is a bit unclear -- it might only be half a handle by the time it gets to you -- but my guess is that if someone was selling the handles, $10 seems like a logical price point.

Of course, you could always take a keg with a handle intact, cut the handle in half and use half on your handle-less corny. The question becomes would you rather have two kegs with half a handle or one keg with and one keg without.

As far as what type of glue/cement, I'll defer to someone else who is more familiar with industrial-strength adhesives than I am.

Wow! $5 a keg?! You got a steal!
As far as the handle is concerned-if it were me, I wouldn't worry about it. The only time it's an issue is when you're carrying it to your kegerator or to the sink to clean it. But if it bothers you, you could have a stainless steel handle welded to it. I'm sure any welding shop could handle it...no pun intended.
