I want to store hard cider long-term. Most of which will be carbonated. My question for the community is, how long will corks from a LHBS last?

I see mix reviews, but it sounds like 3-years. After that point you need to re-cork. To me this seems like a total hassle.

I'm looking at any alternative including screw on caps. I want to store this hard cider for literally 5-10 years. The benefit for screw on caps also is that they don't need to be stored sideways and there is no cork that could potentially dry out and be a hassle. The downside is no oxygen exposure.

I plan on using potassium sorbate and metabisulfite, carbonating via keg, and using beer gun right into bottle. I have corks and cages right now.

Based on my experience with wine stored for up to 10 years, I would only use "natural" corks versus the aggregate ones. The corks also need to fit the neck of the bottle very tightly to hold the carbonation in. The few bottles I did with aggregate corks tend to start leaking, especially if they are under pressure. I would also use champagne bottles if you can get some. Do not use normal wine bottles, they will rupture, I know.
